Your personal information is safe, is treated with the strictest confidence and will never be shared with a third party without your permission. We ensure all information is encrypted and our payment gateway partner complies with PCI DSS Level 1 standards. Please refer to our privacy policy for more information.

What is Krowdbox all about?


Krowdbox is a gifting platform that promotes cash gifts but makes the process safer, easier and convenient. We have combined mobile mobile capabilities with gifting principles to enhance and digitise an age old tradition where cash gifts or contributions are given or received during life events or to support a financial goal.

Our objectives are to:

1. Provide you with a convenient platform to either give or receive personalised cash gifts when celebrating life events such as birthdays, baby showers, weddings etc.

2. Increase safety by eliminating the need for you to carry around physical cash when giving or receiving gifts.

3. Ensure your personal information is protected and private so you dont have to share your personal or bank account details with several people.

4. Promote flexibility by providing you with various options on the platform to redeem or utilise your cash gifts (go beyond just cash).




How do I change my password?


To change your password, follow these steps:

  1. In Menu, select Settings
  2. Select Security
  3. Enter and confirm the new password
  4. Select change to confirm




What if I have forgotten my password and can’t login?


If you have forgotten your password and unable to login, select Forgot password on the login page. Enter your registered email address and we will send you a reset password link.





Raise or pool funds

Are there fees associated with raising or pooling funds?


We charge 5% of all monies raised when you use our platform to raise funds.




Why do I have to verify and link my bank accounts?


Yes. Our focus is to keep our platform secure and we do need to verify your bank account, so we know we are transferring all monies raised into the right account. We do this by automatically verifying your ID details against your bank details. At the moment, we are only able to verify accounts from the following banks:

  1. ABSA
  2. African Bank
  3. Capitec Bank
  4. Discovery Bank
  5. First National Bank
  6. Investec Bank
  7. Nedbank
  8. Sasfin Bank
  9. Standard Bank
This verification allows us to prevent any potential illegal activities such as money laundering and terrorist financing. All transactions are monitored carefully for suspicious transactions and reported according.




How long does it take to get my funds?


Once you complete your goal, all monies are paid directly into your bank account within 24 hours depending on your bank.

Do note that this excludes non-working days such as weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and public holidays.




Can my family and friends contribute using EFT?


For now, your family and friends can contribute towards your goal using their cheque or credit card, namely Mastercard and Visa. This is done through a secure payment gateway with the process also going through 3D Secure for added security.

We are exploring other forms of secure payment systems and will keep you posted.




Can I receive contributions from family and friends overseas?


For now you can only receive contributions from family and friends in South Africa. We do not allow funds from overseas as we are not registered as an Authorised Dealer and therefore will be contravening foreign exchange regulations.

How do I create a goal to raise or pool funds?


To receive or raise funds, you need to start by creating a goal. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. In Menu, select Raise funds
  2. Select what the goal is for
  3. Give your goal a name and enter the goal target
  4. Select the bank account where the amount raised will be paid
  5. Select your notification choices
  6. Review your goal
  7. Select Activate and share to see the payment URL which you can share with family, friends and others




Where can I find the payment link to share with others?


When you first create your goal, you will be able to see and copy the payment URL link. Thereafter, you can also view the link in your Dashboard by following these steps:

  1. In Dashboard, scroll down to Raise Funds transactions
  2. Select View details for the specific transaction
  3. Select Share your payment link
  4. Copy the link and send via your preferred method




How can I extend my goal?


You can extend the target date of your goal by following these steps:

  1. In Dashboard, scroll down to Raise Funds transactions
  2. Select View details for the specific transaction
  3. Select Extend your goal
  4. Enter the new details
  5. Confirm your new selection




How do I cancel a goal?


To cancel your goal, follow these steps:

  1. In Dashboard, scroll down to Raise Funds transactions

  2. Select View details for the specific transaction

  3. Select Cancel your goal

  4. Proceed to cancel




How do I see who has contributed to my goal?


You can view all the people that have contributed to your goal and their message to you. To view, go to Dashboard, scroll down to the specific transaction and select View details.




How do I register my bank account?


Bank accounts are only required when you raise funds. Before you get started with your goal, register your bank account by following these steps:

  1. In Menu, select Bank accounts
  2. Select Add new bank account
  3. Complete your bank details
  4. Select verify account (we will verify the details provided)
  5. If successfully verified, your bank account will be registered

You can also add a bank account while you are creating your goal.

Do note that you can only add up to 3 bank accounts and you can select whichever one you prefer when creating your goal.





Send cashgifts

Do I have to provide my bank account details when I redeem?


When you choose to redeem for cash, it will be paid into a South African bank account and therefore you will need to provide your bank account details. We pay into most South African bank account. However, do note that we do not verify bank account information and it is your responsibility to provide the correct details. We will not be held liable for any wrong payments due to any error on your part regarding your bank account details.




How long does payment take after I redeem my cash?


Once you redeem, all monies are paid directly into your bank account within 24 hours depending on the time you redeem and your bank. For example, if you redeem before 12.00noon it will be paid on the same day. If you redeem after 12.00noon, it will be paid by the following day.

Do note that this excludes non-working days such as weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and public holidays.




Is there a limit that I can send?


Yes. You can send a limit of R5,000 per transaction and/or R25,000 per month.




Can I send money to family and friends overseas?


No you are not able to send cash gifts overseas. Krowdbox only operates within South Africa.

No, you don't need to be registered on Krowdbox to redeem your cash




How do I send a cash gift?


To send money or cash gift to a recipient, follow these steps:

  1. In Menu, select Send cashgifts
  2. Select what the gift is for
  3. Enter the recipient details
  4. Enter the amount to send
  5. Leave your message
  6. Review your gift
  7. Select Pay Now where you will be redirected to the secure payment portal

The recipient’s email address and message are optional. They do not need to be completed if you do not wish to send a message with your transaction.




Can I send money and exclude sending a message?


Messages are optional. If you do not wish to send a message with your transaction, simply leave out the recipient’s email address and message.




How do I cancel a cash gift?


You can only cancel a transaction if the recipient has not redeemed it. To cancel, follow these steps:

  1. In Dashboard, scroll down to Send cashgift transactions
  2. Select View details for the specific transaction
  3. Select Cancel cashgift
  4. Read the cancellation message and proceed to cancel

Do note that you will be charged a cancellation fee.




What if the recipient doesn't get the sms?


There could be times when networks fail and the recipient doesn’t get the sms containing the redeem link. You can copy the redeem link and send to them by following these steps:

  1. In Dashboard, scroll down to Send cashgift transactions
  2. Select View details for the specific transaction
  3. Select View cashgift URL
  4. Highlight the full link, copy and send via your preferred method




How do I redeem my cash gift?


When someone sends you money or cash gift, you will get a SMS containing the redeem link. Simply click on the link and follow the simple steps. Do note that when you redeem, we will first verify you and then obtain your SA bank details where the money will be paid.




How long does the sms link remain valid?


The sms link remains valid for 6 months, unless cancelled by the sender or redeemed by the recipient. If the cash gift isn’t redeemed after 6 months, we will contact the sender to cancel.




Are there fees associated with sending cashgifts?


Our send cashgift service is absolutely free.





Business

Are there fees associated with using Krowdbox?


We charge an all-in fee for each successfully transaction and we do not charge any setup or monthly fees.

Transaction type and fees:

Raising funds: Starting from 4% and reducing based on volumes.

Receiving payments: Starting from 4% and reducing based on volumes.

Refunds: Free to process customer or employee refunds.

Gifting and Rewards: Contact us for bulk transaction charges.

All fees are exclusive of VAT.




How long does it take to get my funds?


We tie your payment to the 'payment date' selected when you create a payment instruction. Once your transaction is completed on that date, all monies are paid directly into your bank account within 24 hours depending on your bank.

However, if your customer pays earlier than the payment date, you can access the funds immediately from your dashboard.

Do note that the 24 hours excludes non-working days such as weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and public holidays.
